I am Axel and I am a telecommunications engineer originally from Mexico. I started my journey at ng-voice as a Deployment Engineer in the Hamburg office and I want to share my experience of the past months in Hamburg.
I studied Electronics and Communications Engineering in Mexico City, where I spent most of my life. I started working at Huawei as a Support/Delivery Engineer, and later on had the opportunity to join Nokia México, where I had the chance to work closely with customers on their premises in Latin America and the Caribbean. Then, I moved to Metaswitch México as a Professional Services Engineer, working primarily on the STIR/SHAKEN regulation in the US and Canada. These experiences made me realize that I wanted to look for an opportunity abroad.
I wanted to have a professional career in Germany, so when I came across ng-voice on LinkedIn it appeared to me like an amazing opportunity, especially because I already knew Hamburg, which is an amazing city, and longed to live here. I knew that ng-voice cloud-native IMS was really innovative and top in the industry and I wanted to be a part of it, delivering the best-in-class VoLTE / VonR solution to customers.
I arrived with my family (my wife and 3-year-old kid) in Hamburg on February the 25th and started at ng-voice on the 1st of march. On my first day in the Hamburg Office, I met my teammates and had a welcome lunch to introduce myself and get to know each other a little, they all were very kind and made me feel comfortable. After two years of lockdown measures and adapting to working from home in Mexico, this was a big but pleasant change. Besides, the hybrid work model that ng-voice offers makes it easy to choose whether to stay at home or to go to the office, depending on my schedule.
Moving from Mexico to Germany implied a bunch of paperwork which I was afraid to do, but the ng-voice team made it really easy for us. I got assistance for getting my Blue Card, housing, as well as for the local registration and kindergarten for my kid, allowing my first weeks to go smoother.
In these first couple of months, I started learning and working on projects along with my talented colleagues, who have plenty of experience and knowledge. I am already looking forward to what we will achieve by putting all of our different backgrounds together.
