From the 28th of June until the 1st of July, the Mobile World Congress 2021 took place in Barcelona, Spain. It is not only the most important global event for the telecommunications industry, but the first hybrid event that we attended after the start of the pandemic, with both an online and an in-person agenda.
With a series of covid-19 prevention measures such as mandatory testing to access the facilities, no touch policy and no exchange of physical materials, the event was smaller than previous editions - however the business interactions were more productive than ever. It was great to safely meet-up with potential customers, suppliers, partners and the general public, be updated about the latest industry trends, and recharge after a long series of lockdown restrictions.
ng-voice brought to the MWC our fully containerized and cloud-native IMS core - the first and most containerized IMS core in the market, which was nominated for the GLOMO Awards. We exhibited in this year’s MWC with two booths: an exclusive booth in Hall 1, and as part of the CLOUD CITY by Telco DR in Hall 2. As part of our team of delegates, we had our CEO David Bachmann, our CTO and Founder Carsten Bock, our Chief Technologist Cloud and Virtualization Abdul Basit Alvi, and 5 other team members from both technical and business teams.
In both booths, we had a live demo of our fully containerized and cloud-native IMS core, allowing attendees to test it and see how easy the setup is. Our flagship product is flexible, scalable, resource-efficient, and easy to deploy and manage, allowing operators and enterprises of any sized to deploy innovative voice services on their LTE/5G networks.
We at ng-voice were so excited that the telecom industry could finally come together safely and connect at the MWC21, after over a year of pandemic restrictions. The innovative hybrid model of the event proved to be a success and we hope that it sets the new benchmark for future events.
According to our CTO and Founder Carsten Bock, “Being in the epicenter of the industry, meeting with potential clients, partners, and even colleagues, is inspiring. We had great business opportunities, and are looking forward to next year”.
Also, according to our CEO David Bachmann, this year’s MWC proved how new innovative cloud-native players are disrupting the market. “Being a part of the Cloud City by TelcoDR was a great opportunity to showcase the capabilities of cloud-native suppliers. New innovative players like ng-voice are vital to build 100% software-based and cloud-native mobile networks, which are more flexible and secure, and potentially reduce the cost of building and operating 5G networks significantly.”
Being at the MWC also brings our team the opportunity to update their market knowledge, fill the needs for self-development, and expand their network. Our Finance and Impact Manager, Seon Lee, tells a bit about how she used the opportunity of being at the MWC to network and bring new ideas to her role at ng-voice.
Seon said: "I took full advantage of attending in person by scheduling an appointment on the MWC21 networking app connected to LinkedIn and bookmarking the sessions before flying to Barcelona. This gave me a sense of excitement and an overview of what to expect during the four-day conference".
The first session I attended was called “How to Become a More Sustainable Startup?” in the #4YFN - 4 years from now - section. I learned how most businesses like ng-voice are using impact assessment tools and gained ideas on how to implement similar initiatives at ng-voice. After that, I met a representative from Tech2Impact to learn about where to find the relevant, up-to-date resources. I also attended the Diversity4Tech Summit which builds on the success of Women4Tech, reflecting the growing attention and voices in the industry and “expanding conversations to include the wider case for equality, diversity, and inclusion.” While acknowledging the long way to go, seeing new initiatives to push for systematic changes in our industry was inspiring".
The next MWC is scheduled to happen in Barcelona from 28th February to 3rd March 2022. Get in touch on info@ng-voice.com if you want to know more about our solutions.
